Three Amazon employees from Connecticut are fighting to revive a class action lawsuit, arguing they should be compensated for mandatory security screenings at Amazon warehouses. These screenings, intended to prevent theft, reportedly took up to 20 minutes daily and occurred at the end of shifts and during unpaid breaks. Workers claim they were instructed to clock out before the screenings, resulting in unpaid time ranging from 50 to 90 minutes per week.

A lower court sided with Amazon last year, referencing a 2014 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that exempted employers from paying for such activities under the Portal-to-Portal Act. However, the plaintiffs argue that Connecticut law differs and was never subject to the federal law in question.
