An Indiana man, 78 years old, has reportedly died in a Hancock County motorcycle crash on Saturday, May 15. The man has been identified as William Davis of Ingalls by the Hancock County’s Sheriff Department. The accident happened on the Hancock and Madison County line.

Davis breathed his last just before 11 a.m. The man was on a 2007 Honda motorcycle and was driving on the south of State Road 9, police said. The accident happened when he lost control over his bike and went off the highway.

The authorities added that the reason why his motorcycle went off the highway is still unclear. The Hancock County motorcycle crash was so powerful that Davis was thrown off the bike and hit a street sign as a result, whereas the bike skidded down and stopped on the grass.

There was an on-duty firefighter who witnessed the crash and stopped to help Davis. The man was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis due to the severity of his injuries. However, he succumbed to injuries later.

Because of the severity of the crash, the police officers from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and Fortville Police Department arrived immediately at the accident scene. They called the Fatal Accident Crash Team of Hancock County for further investigation. At the time of reporting, alcohol, speed and drugs weren’t regarded as factors in the accident.

However, the Sheriff Department said that the driver wasn’t wearing a helmet when on the motorcycle. The State Road 9 also stayed closed for a short while following the crash.
