According to the police reports, the southeast side of Indianapolis witnessed a three-vehicle crash at South Post on Sunday evening.
The area where the crash at South Post happened was rural, with few homes and a church. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) was called to the scene at around 7:15 pm on Sunday.
There were three vehicles found at the scene of the accident, according to the officials. The vehicles were identified as an Audi A4 car, a white GMC work van, and a Dodge Challenger.
The driver of the work van died at the scene. The commander of IMPD, Karry Buckner, said, “The van flipped multiple times, killing the driver.”
He also added that the van was coming from the north side of Post Road and hit the two cars at the intersection. He also said, “The setting sun in the clear sky may have obstructed the vision of the drivers.”
The drivers of both cars were checked for DUI through blood tests. This is a mandatory procedure followed after a fatal crash. No such immediate indication that the drivers were under alcohol or drug influence was indicated informed the police.
Three days after the crash, the work van driver killed on the accident scene was identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. He was identified as a 27-year-old man, Tyler Winston.
No other details about the deceased were reported. There is no report if the dead man was under the influence or not either.
