Clif Bar & Co. has agreed to a $12 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit alleging that its protein bar packaging misled consumers regarding sugar content. Filed in 2018, Ralph Milan et al. v. Clif Bar & Co. claims that phrases like "Nutrition for Sustained Energy" and "No High Fructose Corn Syrup" did not accurately disclose high added sugar levels. Clif Bar denies the allegations but chose to settle. Consumers who bought Clif Bars between March 31, 2019, and March 31, 2023, are eligible to file a claim, with California and New York residents having extended eligibility back to April 19, 2014. The deadline for claim submission is November 25, 2024, with payouts based on the number of bars purchased, up to a maximum of $50.
