New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin has filed a lawsuit against TikTok, accusing the app of exploiting children's vulnerabilities for financial gain and worsening their mental health. The lawsuit, filed in Essex County Superior Court, claims that TikTok's design is intentionally addictive, specifically targeting American teens.

The 98-page complaint alleges that TikTok violated consumer protection laws, contributing to the rise in mental health issues among young users. This lawsuit is part of a broader legal effort, as a dozen other states—led by both Republicans and Democrats—have also filed similar suits against the China-based company.
