The family of 11-year-old Hailey Brooks, who was tragically killed during the 2022 Christmas parade in Raleigh, North Carolina, has officially dropped Landen Glass, the truck driver involved in the accident, from their lawsuit. Glass lost control of his truck due to brake failure while pulling a float, resulting in Brooks' death as she performed with CC & Co. Dance Complex.
The lawsuit initially named several defendants, including CC & Co. Dance Complex, Greater Raleigh Merchants Association, Shop Local Raleigh, and D&L Floats. Along with Glass, both D&L Floats and CC & Co. Dance Complex were also dismissed from the case. The family’s decision to drop Glass may be tied to the ongoing criminal case against him, as well as Raleigh's recent implementation of stricter safety regulations for motorized vehicles in parades, including mandatory inspections.
The tragic incident has led to widespread changes, including enhanced safety protocols to prevent similar accidents in the future.
