Two major class action lawsuits have been filed against BioLab Inc. and KIK Consumer Products following a massive fire at a chemical plant in Conyers, Georgia. Stewart Miller Simmons Trial Attorneys launched a suit representing over 90,000 local residents, seeking compensation for property damages linked to the September 29th fire, which triggered large-scale evacuations due to a hazardous smoke plume. The fire, allegedly caused by a malfunctioning sprinkler system interacting with a water-reactive chemical, led to the evacuation of approximately 17,000 residents.

In addition, national law firm Morgan & Morgan filed a separate lawsuit, accusing the companies of mishandling hazardous chemicals and further endangering the community. Although the shelter-in-place order was lifted, ongoing weather changes have caused renewed concerns regarding the smoke plume's impact. Both lawsuits, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, allege negligence and failure to prevent the fire, which has raised alarms over safety protocols at the plant.

These lawsuits could result in significant financial compensation for affected residents and raise broader questions about chemical safety regulations.
